About us

Welcome to the Highams Players. We are a drama group that has been entertaining the local community since 1939. We were founded by former pupils of Woodford County High School, known at the time as Highams School.

We consider ourselves friends as much as thespians. This is the core ethos of Highams.  Unlike other drama groups, we rehearse in each other’s homes and we aim to support each other in any way we can. We like to put on shows that not only entertain but bring together the local community. A complementary programme and refreshments are included within the ticket price for each performance.

We are proud to have built up a loyal fan base over the years and have a membership scheme for those who wish to support the Society. We have an annual membership scheme and welcome new members to join the society. As a member you benefit not only from free entry to all performances but notification of social events. We encourage (but never insist!) you to get involved the Society in any way you wish, for example on stage (acting), providing support back stage, helping front of house or handing out flyers to market each production. There are a host of ways in which you can get involved.

And we always welcome comments as to how we can make things even better for you. If you have particular needs that you wish to discuss, please feel free to contact us at thehighamsplayers@gmail.com. You will also find our contact details in the following pages.
